Special Commission Meeting

July 18, 2017

The Port of Grays Harbor Commission Meeting for July 18, 2017 began at 7:00 a.m. at the offices of BHP Billiton Canada, 130 3rd Ave. South Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Port attendees were as follows:

Chuck Caldwell - Commissioner
Stan Pinnick - Commissioner
Jack Thompson - Commissioner
Gary Nelson - Executive Director
Arthur Blauvelt - Legal Counsel
Randy Lewis - Director of Environmental and Engineering Services
Leonard Barnes - Deputy Executive Director
Kayla Dunlap - Public Affairs Manager

The Commissioners and staff boarded a bus at approximately 7:15 a. m. and rode to the Jansen Mine owned by BHP, no topics were discussed during the ride to the mine. At the Jansen Mine the Commissioners and staff were given a bus tour of the improvements that have been constructed by BHP to date, including, the two mine shafts, refrigeration plant, and the future locations of the processing plant, storm water retention pond and material storage.

The Commissioners and staff were then driven to the visitor center and given a walking tour of the residential, food, entertainment and exercise facilities that are currently available for the approximately 300 workers on site. The finished site will be large enough to accommodate over 2,500 employees.

The Commissioners and staff were presented with a power point presentation about the history of BHP, the importance of Potash to farming and meeting the farming needs of the future, the current status of the digging of the mine shafts and the improvements that are planned for the Jansen Mine in the future.

The final presentation was about the plans that BHP has for the location and construction of a break bulk export facility. The Port of Grays Harbor is one of the locations under consideration for the export facility.

The Commissioners and staff then reloaded a bus and were driven back to the BHP offices in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, arriving at approximately 5:15 p.m.

No formal action was taken during the meeting.
