Westport Marina Promotes Caleb Tackett to Maintenance Lead
We are excited to announce the promotion of Caleb Tackett to Westport Marina Maintenance Lead.
Caleb joined the Westport team in 2022 after serving two years as a seasonal employee. Since then, he has become a key part of marina operations, helping lead our seasonal workforce while building his skills through the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding and earning his welding certification from Grays Harbor College.
Caleb is an important part of our team. His local knowledge, strong work ethic, and commitment to the future of Westport Marina make him a tremendous asset. We're fortunate to have him with us and excited to see him continue to grow in this new role.
Next time you see Caleb on the docks, be sure to say hello!
WPD, WDFW and WM: A Unified Approach to Marina District Improvements
The Westport Marina District is teeming with activity. Businesses, fishermen, community members, visiting public, and many more utilize the Marina District. While likely not thinking about who owns which parcel of ground or how the regulations might be at play, the Westport Police Department, Westport Marina Staff, and WA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife all have an active role in managing the marina. All 3 agencies work hard behind the scenes to provide seamless enforcement and regulation. The boat basin fishery and parking enforcement are examples of this commitment.
Boat Basin Coho Fishery
The recreational Westport Marina boat basin fishery is well underway and is expected to remain active into November, thanks to continued investment in the fishery over the past several years. Dating back to the 1980s and supported by a long list of partners and community advocates, the boat basin coho fishery remains a valued asset for our community. For those who are unable to buy a boat or book a charter, it offers a wonderful way to enjoy the Westport working waterfront. If you have visited the docks in the last few weeks, you have likely seen just how much the fishery has grown in popularity.
With growth come a few challenges. Marina staff, WDFW, and WPD are working together to minimize impacts on marina customers and community members while continuing to provide space for this unique fishery. Stay tuned for updates and a community meeting to discuss these challenges and help find solutions.

Parking Updates in the Marina District
As activity throughout the Marina District continues to grow, parking challenges have increased right along with it. The Westport Police Department and Westport Marina staff are evaluating parking throughout the district, including streets and parking lots, to improve safety, maximize parking availability, and create a more consistent experience for everyone.
As part of this effort, parking enforcement will increase. Marina users and visitors are encouraged to be aware of parking regulations and posted signage to help ensure safe and efficient use of available parking.
Stay tuned for additional updates as this work moves forward.
Float 21 Modernization Project Moves Forward
Did you hear the news? Westport Marina has been awarded $6.2 million from the EDA for the replacement of Float 21, the first project in the Westport Marina Modernization Project. Planning for this project has been underway for more than three years, and construction is now coming into view.
The Float 21 replacement project includes:
13 30-foot fingers to serve the boat launch
15 55-foot fingers
6 90-foot fingers
1 100-foot finger
154-foot end tie
New piles, tie hardware, and utilities
New abutment
New 80-foot gangway
Prior to construction, staff will move any remaining annual moorage customers on Floats 19 and 21 to accommodate the project.
Construction could begin as early as July 2027.
This project marks the beginning of multiple phases of boat moves and slip relocations within the harbor. We have received many questions about timing, impacts, and who may need to move. To help clarify expectations, boat movement will be implemented according to several criteria and will likely affect every moorage holder at some point:
Immediate needs for construction progress
Maximizing the use and function of the Westport Marina boat basin according to the Westport Marina Modernization Plan
Annual moorage holders requesting new slip placement
Temporary or permanent relocation needs for any boat in the harbor
Assigning new Float 21 slips by size, use, and function
If you have questions, please stop by the marina office. Staff will be happy to review the plans and provide additional information.
Save $25 by signing up for ACH/EFT
Want to save $25? Annual moorage customers, who have not already signed up for ACH/EFT, can sign up for ACH/EFT in November or December and receive a $25 credit toward your base electrical fees.
Not sure how to get started?
Call or email the office, and we will help you get set up.
