WESTPORT, WASH.  – Westport Marina staff were notified of a vessel fire at Float 6 just after 6pm on Thursday, March 9, 2023.  The South Beach Regional Fire Authority (RFA) arrived on scene to find flames visible from the 90-foot f/v Marlins II’s wheelhouse.  While details of the incident are still pending, there were no injuries and no other boats were involved.

“We are so grateful for the timely and experienced handling of the situation by our first responders,” said Westport Marina General Manager Molly Bold.  “The South Beach Regional Fire Authority faced a challenging scene of gusty winds, heavy rain and near freezing temperatures while the US Coast Guard and other agencies were quick to assist.  Additionally, and true to form for the tight-knit Westport community, many local boat owners assisted with vessel moves, provided lighting for the RFA and helped to communicate with vessel owners.”

Westport Marina staff will be working with local officials to assess infrastructure damage and environmental impacts.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
