Electrical Updates

Electrical: 3 Things You Need to Know

As we head into the colder months, it’s a great time to brush up on a few important electrical updates around the marina. Whether you're plugging in for the season or just passing through, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. GFCI Is Coming for You!

Slowly but surely, we’re upgrading all marina receptacles to GFCI-compliant breakers per WA state code. These Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters are designed to improve safety and meet current electrical standards. While the infrastructure will certainly change on the pedestal end, boaters may need to make changes as well.  Have questions? Please reach out to the office 360-533-9562. Get ready for a safer, more reliable power experience.

2. Communication Is Key

If you're having trouble with power, need to switch plugs, or have concerns about your electrical usage—talk to us! We’re here to help and want to make sure your needs are met. A quick conversation can go a long way in preventing issues and keeping things running smoothly.

3. Winter Is Coming

As temperatures drop, heaters start working overtime—and so does your power bill. Be sure to check your boat often and monitor your usage. A little attention now can save you from costly surprises later.

***Bonus*** If Sealions are near your boat, pay attention! Sealions and pinnipeds have disconnected plugs, leading to much bigger issues.
