Earthquake Monitor to be Installed at Satsop Business Park

November 2022

The Satsop Business Park will soon be home to one of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network’s (PNSN) newest seismic stations.  The Port Commission approved an agreement at its October Commission meeting allowing for installation of a seismic instrument that will become part of PNSN’s ShakeAlert Early Earthquake Warning System.

Satsop’s location was ideal for filling a gap in the existing network and “quieter” than nearby locations in Elma.  Once installed, the data recorded by the station will be freely available to anyone online at pnsn.org/seismograms/map.  The seismic station at the Satsop Business Park is named “SATS”.
