2021-2022 Dungeness Crab Fishing - Marina Updates

November 2021

Marina Customer,

In anticipation of the 2021-2022 Dungeness Crab Season, please take a moment to read a brief review of crab pot staging, facilities, and timelines for the marina district below. Though we continue to experience heightened levels of activity, we remain confident that cooperation between our local fishermen, transient vessels, processors, businesses, and tenants will result in a productive and successful season.

Crab Pot Staging:

Crab Pot Staging remains available in 5 locations throughout the marina district, provided by both the City of Westport and Westport Marina. All staging must be registered with city and marina office. Most importantly, the pot staging on the boat launch parking lot has been moved to the Kings Parking Lot off of Yearout Drive. No pot staging will be allowed on the boat launch parking lot. Please see included info sheets and map of available locations & associated guidelines.

Bathrooms, Showers, and Garbage Facilities:

Westport Marina Float 9 Restroom & Shower facility is only accessible with an active Access Card. Access cards are available at the Marina Office for $40. Additionally, the marina garbage facility adjacent to the Marina office will require access cards for use.

Transient Commercial Crab Vessels:

The marina office is shifting to a new, electronic form of communication and billing. All commercial crab vessels without annual moorage will need to make sure their contact information is updated with the office. We will require an active email address and credit card on file. Monthly moorage contracts will be sent electronically to your email and monthly charges will be charged to your card at the beginning of each month unless other arrangements are made with the marina office.

If you do not have an active email or need to make payments by way other than a credit card, please contact the marina office prior to your arrival to discuss available options.

Gear Recycling:

Don’t forget! The Westport Marina is an active participant in the Fishing 4 Energy Recycling program. As you work on getting your gear ready for the season and you find you have old line, pots, etc., you can bring it to the recycle bin at the marina office. The materials will be sent to a central recycling center where they will be re-purposed and kept out of landfills.

Reminder:

Any vessel mooring in the marina for 30 or more consecutive days is required to provide a copy of their current insurance policy to the Marina Office. This will need to be provided upon arrival to the marina.

Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Marina Office as we are here to help ensure a safe and productive season.
