ELMA, WASH. –   The Satsop Business Park’s unique assets, including abundant water and access to robust power infrastructure, have caught the interest of a potential green hydrogen producer.  At Tuesday’s meeting, the Port of Grays Harbor Commission approved an Option to Lease with Invenergy, the leading privately-held developer and operator of sustainable energy solutions.

The leasing option includes land and a warehouse in Satsop West Park off Keys Road.  During the option period, Invenergy will continue to explore the property as a potential site for constructing a new facility to produce “green hydrogen” using electrolysis. Conceptually, the facility could produce up to 45 tons/day of carbon-free green hydrogen. If the project moves forward, the facility is projected to be operational as soon as 2026.

“We are extremely excited that Satsop’s infrastructure could play a role in Grays Harbor’s first green hydrogen facility,” shared Port Commissioner Phil Papac.  “We look forward to working with Invenergy in this important process as they assess the possibility of a new clean energy solution in our region.”

“This is an incredible opportunity for additional green energy in East County Grays Harbor, and the State of Washington as a whole,” commented Satsop Business Park General Manager Alissa Shay.  “Given our strategic location and unique assets, the Park is well-positioned to play an important role in green energy production well into the future.”

“The area’s strong regional workforce, strategic location, and infrastructure assets were all reasons to explore green hydrogen production at the Satsop Business Park,” stated Invenergy Director of Hydrogen Project Development, Jon Horek.  “We look forward to building on our strong relationship with the Grays Harbor community as we evaluate this new opportunity for clean energy.”

Satsop Business Park, a facility of the Port of Grays Harbor, is less than 2 hours southwest of Seattle and 2 hours north of Portland.  Located in scenic Grays Harbor County in Elma, Washington, the 1,800-acre mixed-use business and industrial park is approximately 30 minutes from Olympia and the I-5 Corridor.  Boasting much of the only Class A office space in Coastal Washington, the business park offers a wide variety of commercial office space from single office suites with views of the Olympic Mountains to full turnkey buildings. With over 500,000 square feet in available warehousing and manufacturing space, the Satsop Business Park is the premier place to do business on the Coast.

The Port of Grays Harbor Commission approved an Option to Lease with Invenergy to explore the possibility of constructing a new green hydrogen production facility at the Satsop Business Park’s West Park at Tuesday’s Commission Meeting.
